The Australian Filipino community's biennial National Conference (NatCon) presented by the Filipino Communities Council of Australia (FILCCA) will be held from 24-26 October at the Sydney Novotel Parramatta. One of the highlights since 2000 will again be the FILCCA Awards Gala Night on Saturday 25 October where the following awards will be given.

Filipino-Australian of the Year Award
Filipino-Australian Achiever Award
Leadership Award
Youth Achievement Award
Outstanding Community Organisation Award

FILCCA aims to raise the profile of the Australian-Filipino community and celebrate the achievements and contributions of Filipinos in Australia. These awards aim to meet this goal whilst ensuring impartiality and transparency during the selection process.

This year’s conference theme is “Facing the Future Together”, a fitting theme after the world's strongest Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines in November 2013. This disaster came on the heels of the earthquake that devastated Cebu, Bohol and other parts of the Visayas. Together they have left many areas of the country in a state of destruction and devastation.

The 13th Filipino National Conference aims to provide a forum for the Australian-Filipino community nationwide to come together and work towards common goals. This year’s conference will enable the community to share, learn and contribute with one another, building on our diverse experiences and strengths towards the development of future strategies.

FILCCA hosts the Filipino National Conference every two years to provide an opportunity to gather all Australian-Filipino leaders and members of the community across the country to discuss and address concerns and issues affecting the Filipino-Australian community, develop and implement strategies on issues at the local, national and international level.

This year’s conference will be hosted by The Philippine Community Council of NSW (PCCNSW) which is recognised by FILCCA as the State council of NSW which has over 55 affiliate member organisations, in a vast range of areas including arts and culture, education, elderly, health, immigration, sport, women and youth, which it represents. PCCNSW has spent the last two decades advocating for the needs of Filipino-Australians in NSW by taking a leadership role in advancing the needs, interests and goals of the local community.
